Desert Rose Winery
Embraced by the rolling hills of the Northern Blue Ridge Mountains, Desert Rose is a delightful Virginia Winery with a festive western motif. The Winery offers customers a generous selection of delicious red, white and dessert wines in a comfortable friendly atmosphere.
The Desert Rose Winery located in Hume, VA is one of Fauquier County’s unique boutique wineries. This family and pet friendly winery strives to make all guests feel welcome and at home. Guests are invited to bring a picnic and find a place either inside, on the deck, around the pond (which sports a fountain and Koi fish), or out under the trees to enjoy with their favorite glass or bottle of Desert Rose wine.
Members of their own family will often be in the winery helping including brother Ken and his dog GiGi who has become a popular welcoming figure along with being selected to be “Miss November” in the 2013 Dominion Wine Dogs Calendar.
They are still a breeding, boarding and training operational horse ranch and you will often see horses displayed in the adjoining corral – some even for sale!!
Even though they are a rather new winery having only opened 1 April 2011 (April Fool’s Day), they are proud to say they have developed a very loyal following in the community.
The winery recently received acclaim from the prestigious Indy International Wine competition by bringing home 7 medals including a double gold (highest awarded) for their 100% Cabernet Franc.
The tasting room for the winery is warm and inviting with a roaring fire blazing away in cooler months.
You will take a step back in time and be treated to the western motif that originates from Bob & Linda’s heritage in Oregon. The tasting room bar top is decorated with money collected from their travels virtually all over the world and an old western movie will normally be playing on the TV screen. The winery is a reflection of Bob & Linda’s zest for life and guests are invited to visit and share in all of their passions.
